Saints Row reboot delayed to August 23 2022

Volition and Deep Silver have announced they’ve delayed the launch of the upcoming Saints Row reboot into August of 2022.

The update was given to fans by the game’s chief creative officer, Jim Boone. “Our priority is to create the best Saints Row game yet and, if we released on the original date, it wouldn’t be up to the standards we’ve set ourselves, and that you’re expecting and deserve. The team just need more time to do our vision justice; we’re doing some fine tuning and there won’t be much change in the game outside of overall quality and polish.”

Boone also mentioned the ongoing impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the Saints Row reboot’s development.  Although the team transitioned to a working from home environment fine, they “underestimated” the impact the new normal would have. “Due to the size and scope of our new Saints Row, it’s become apparent that to create the best game possible, we need to give our team longer to perfect their craft.”

“Rest assured,” Boone continued, “there will not be any changes to the story or the characters or anything that we’ve lovingly imagined over the last few years and already shared with you.”

We were originally expecting Saints Row to launch in February of 2022. Back during that initial reveal at Gamescom 2021, we were introduced to the new city of Santo Ileso. The latest entry also features new gangs, new weapons and a whole new cast of characters.

Presuming no more delays between then and now, the Saints Row reboot will now arrive on August 23, 2022. It’ll be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
