Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light & Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022

Crystal Dynamics has announced it’ll bring Tomb Raider spin-offs Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris to Nintendo Switch next year.

As announced by the Tomb Raider blog, the reveal marks the 25th anniversary of Tomb Raider this week. While light on detail, the studio has confirmed it’ll be working on Feral Interactive on the ports. It sounds like the multiplayer co-op will be intact, and we’re promised more details soon.

In case you missed their original releases, both games are isometric arcade-like spin-offs. Taking place in their own universe, they both see Lara teaming up with allies as they run through a series of tombs. Teamwork’s a big focus, with 2010’s Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light seeing Lara tam up with Mayan warrior Totec.

The second game—Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiristransposed the action to Egypt. It upped the player count from 2 to 4, and included a sort of hub-like structure for the levels. Both games would see you collecting treasure for a high score, and using each player’s skills to help solve puzzles and defeat enemies.

The games weren’t the only announcement today for Tomb Raider fans. We also got a brief update on the upcoming Tomb Raider anime series for Netflix. Joining Hayley Atwell as Lara will be Allen Maldonado as Zip, and Earl Baylon reprising his role from the survivor games as Jonah. It actually marks the first step of the earlier mentioning of merging the game’s timelines, as Zip is a character from the Tomb Raider Legend-era trilogy. Intriguing!

Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris will arrive on Nintendo Switch some time in 2022.
