Co-op adventure It Takes Two seems to have gone down well, with Hazelight Studios declaring the game has sold three million copies.
The development team made the statement on their Twitter account today, celebrating the achievement. “The thought of so many people enjoying our game is humbling and heartwarming. You’ve all helped send a clear message – co-op adventures are here to stay!”
Hazelight Studios of course, have a long history with co-op adventures. The studio was formed by Josef Fares who previously worked on Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons which launched in 2013. Their first project as Hazelight was prison break adventure A Way Out.
The game originally launched back in March and tells the story of Cody and May. They’re a married couple going through some issues when they find themselves turned into dolls thanks to a magical wish made by their daughter. By April, it had already sold a million copies.
So what’s next for the studio? An expansion or sequel to It Takes Two? Something completely new? Apart from likely remaining in the world of co-op, Hazelight aren’t saying a whole lot. However, Fares is famously a regular at Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards, so maybe we’ll hear more at this year’s ceremony in LA this December?
Until then, It Takes Two is available now on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
