Deathloop director Dinga Bakaba named as new head of Arkane Lyon

Deathloop‘s co-director has been promoted to studio head of developer Arkane Lyon, who are also behind the Dishonored series.

As spotted by Video Games Chronicle, Dinga Bakaba was promoted in October, just a month following the release of Deathloop. However, he is still retaining his previous position too as the studio’s co-creative director. The latter is a position he shares with Deathloop‘s other co-director and art director, Sebastian Mitton.

Bakaba joined Arkane back in 2010 as a systems designer and associate producer for the first Dishonored. After that, he went on to become the Lead Game Designer on Dishonored 2 and contributed to its follow up Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. Bakaba also worked as game director on both Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot and Wolfenstein: Youngblood. Quite the busy few years then.

He replaces the studio’s outgoing head Romulad Capron. He stepped down back in October after almost 17 years at the company. According to his LinkedIn (via Video Games Chronicle) he said on his departure:  “I’m very proud of what we accomplished with this amazing team. The successful launch of Deathloop is just another proof that Arkane has a very bright future and unique place in our industry.”

“I’m letting the studio in very good hands,” he continued. “Under the leadership of Dinga Bakaba, Sébastien Mitton, Hugues Tardif and Morgan Barbe, who – I’m sure – will keep on pushing ambitious and innovative projects.”

Deathloop launched back in September for PlayStation 5 and PC. We enjoyed it a lot, as you can read in our review over here.
